Team Co-Adaptive House

The Co-adaptive House was designed as an affordable, energy efficient home, built for $2000/sqm and responding to the WELL features. It is designed to address the needs for housing flexibility and diversity in Australian cities. The house includes and integrated ‘Granny Flat; that can be configured to accommodate: Ageing in Place, multigenerational living, a home office (even a co-working spaces for the neighbourhood), used for income generation as an AirBnB or rented to University Students during semester, facilitate shared living, or even be used as a quarantine at home space during pandemics.This flexibility is important in addressing the goals set out in the Hunter Region 2036 document, which pointed out the region’s shrinking household size, it’s ageing population, lack of housing diversity and provision for short term accommodation, as well as the unique housing occupation patterns of the Hunter Region.
